It’s one of those cars that everyone dreams of owning, for Aaron Dawkins though; he’s one of the lucky ones to actually be able to claim an NSX to his name. This guy has been in the game a long time, his roster of cars includes a Porsche 944, an Acura Legend, and even an S2000. But Aaron says the NSX was always different, it’s one of those super cars that you say as a kid “I want to own one of those when I grow up”. Aaron has taken that childhood dream and turned it into a reality. Of course, when it comes to purchasing an NSX, it’s not just another car; Aaron took his time over the course of a year trying to find that “perfect match”.
Like most of us, cars are a true passion for him; uniquely building them to stand out from the crowd is what Aaron prides himself on. He says he’s always wanted a car that “snaps necks” when he drives by, and this 1999 Acura NSX definitely does that. Just take a look at it. Aaron has done a fine job building an almost stock car into a piece of art. It’s mesmerizing taking a look at this beauty; it is a true head turner.
All of this began in 2008 when Aaron purchased this car in near mint condition, basically untouched. One thing this beauty did come with was the 18x8 Work VS-XX wheels in the front, and the ground pounding 19x10.5 in the rear.
Of course though, it didn’t end here. He had big plans for this one. He says, “My first plan of attack was to modify the exhaust. I was looking for a Formula F1 type sound”. After 3 different exhausts fitted to this beast he was able to find the sound he had been looking for. Hearing this monster roar at 8500 is somewhat of a spine tingling experience. We all know we get on the gas to hear our exhaust notes, especially the downshifts in tunnels and this one leaves all others behind.
After he was finally settled in with the Pride V1 exhaust he began scouring parts suppliers for the rest of his build. He chose to spare no costs and go with the ARC Coilovers, Comptech carbon air box, Comptech front and rear sway bars and NSX-R front chassis reinforcement bar. All this is brought to a halt with the beefier Hawk brake pads. He definitely takes pride in doing all the installations and fabrications himself, including the custom alcantara interior. And he says he would like to add a big brake kit all the way around, and push this beast to its limits with an AP-X turbo kit and meth injection, which is coming this fall.
